Reflections of Progress: Little Rock Central High School 60th Anniversary

September 22 – Dedication of Clay Enoch’s United sculpture on Little Rock Central High School front lawn.  Co-hosted by the City of Little Rock, Little Rock Central High School, and Sculpture at the River Market.

September 23 – Education Symposium. Clinton Presidential Center Great Hall.  Featuring panels focused on: Brown v. Board to August 1957, 1957/58 school year and the Lost Year, 1959 to present.

September 23 – Mavis Staples headlined a concert as a fundraiser for the Little Rock Nine Foundation. Also featuring Rodney Block and the Real Music Lovers with Bijoux.  Robinson Center Performance Hall.

September 24 – “Children of the Little Rock Nine: The Next Generation” co-hosted by the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service, the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies and the City of Little Rock.  Ron Robinson Theater.

September 24 – Interfaith Service. Robinson Center Performance Hall.  Featuring Rev. Raphael G. Warnock, Ph.D., of Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church and various Little Rock faith leaders as well as a community interfaith choir.

September 25 – Commemoration Ceremony featuring remarks by the Little Rock Nine, Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and a keynote address by President Bill Clinton. Roosevelt Thompson Auditorium at Little Rock Central High School. Overflow seating in the Gymnasium on the Central High campus.
